Qidong New City Agricultural Development Co recently started selling crayfish delivered from Hubei province through its online platform, and the crayfish have proved popular among Qidong locals.
The annual output of crayfish in Hubei accounts for almost half of the country's total output. Due to the novel coronavirus outbreak, such seasonal agricultural products in the province, the epicenter of the COVID-19 pandemic in China, could not be quickly sold to outside buyers.
To boost Hubei's economic recovery and help promote its agricultural products, Qidong New City Agricultural Development Co provides timely support, along with Qidong's general supply and marketing cooperative.
The first batch of crayfish from Hubei were delivered to Qidong on April 1 and sold through both online platforms and retailers at offline markets. To date, more than 20,000 kilograms of crayfish from Hubei have been sold with the help of the company.
In addition, other agri-products from Hubei, including tea leaves, oranges, honey and mushrooms, are also being sold on the company's online platform, and its daily revenue from these products can exceed 100,000 yuan ($14,140).
