Dong Fang International Container (Qidong) Co, a subsidiary of China COSCO Shipping Corporation based in Qidong, Nantong, recently recruited nearly 1,000 employees within a week. 

The company covers an area of 700,000 square meters, with around $22,000 in registered capital. Three production lines are currently in operation, according to Chen Feng, production manager of the company. 

Amid the outbreak of the novel coronavirus, many companies are experiencing a labor shortage. To solve this problem, the company is cooperating with several labor service companies, publicizing its corporate culture, and taking strict anti-epidemic measures to protect employees. 

In addition, senior employees are also promoting recruitment among their fellow villagers. Tu Hanjun from Sichuan province was introduced to the company by fellow villager Quan Zhihua, a section chief at the company.

Quan got promoted from an ordinary worker to a section chief within three years and has worked to increase his income. Tu said that his previous place of employment has yet to resume operations, and after learning about the company from Quan, he decided to apply.

All employees have returned to work and more have been recruited since the company resumed production. Skill and safety training will be carried out for new employees as soon as possible, according to Li Huiling, personnel manager of the company.
