Qidong-based company to invest over $140m in new energy vehicle production
Jiangsu Zilang Automotive Group Co, based in Qidong, Nantong, plans to introduce new production lines for new energy vehicles, with a total investment of 1 billion yuan ($141.18 million).
The new workshops are expected to cover around 76,000 square meters. The first phase, consisting of two workshops, is currently under construction and is expected to be completed in the second quarter of this year.
The company mainly engages in the manufacturing, modification, and sale of automobiles. It has been approved to produce commercial vehicles, becoming the only company in Qidong to obtain the qualification.
It has also reached a cooperation agreement with a Suzhou-based automobile company in an effort to accelerate the development of vehicle production technology. A specialized group has been set up to focus on automotive research and development.
The workshops at the company are slightly different from standard ones. They are 18 meters tall, making it easy to carry out processing on the bodies of vehicles, said Chen Yuehua, legal representative of the company.
To date, one workshop of the first phase has been completed and facilities have been installed. According to Chen, new production lines will be brought in after the first phase is completed. This year's sales revenue is expected to reach 500 million yuan, he said.
