Qidong company to build giant component production center
A component production center funded by Qidong Construction Group is planned for construction in Qidong, Nantong. It is expected to be one of the largest production centers of its kind in the Yangtze River Delta region.
The production center is designed to cover an area of 289.6 mu (19.31 hectares) and will cost a total of 1.03 billion yuan ($145.10 billion) to build. It will focus mainly on the production of components for prefabricated buildings.
The first phase of construction finished at the end of last May and is now the largest component production center in Nantong. It has already been equipped with several automatic production lines, mixer units, cranes, and numerous other devices. It is designed to produce 225,000 cubic meters of PC components per year.

According to Qiu Hu, a manager of the center, components will be transported to the construction site after being produced, and will then be assembled and installed at the center like giant building blocks.
Prefabricated buildings are simpler and easier to build than traditional buildings. Less sand and cement is used in the installation of prefabricated components, which can help reduce pollution caused by building waste, noise, and dust.
The second phase of construction is expected to start in the second half of this year. It will mainly involve PC components, light partition materials, intelligent facilities, green building materials, and recycled concrete.
The annual output value of the production center is expected to reach 2 billion yuan, paying up to 230 million yuan in taxes, after it becomes fully operational.
