Yazhou Modern Agricultural Park sees strong development
The Yazhou Modern Agricultural Park in Hai'an, Nantong has been integrating agriculture and tourism and developing intelligent cultivation techniques in recent years.
Last year, it was named a "national rural innovative demonstration park" and a "national three-star park for leisure agriculture and rural tourism".
The agricultural park now mainly focuses on the sericulture and rice industries. A total of five construction projects costing over 10 million yuan ($1.41 million) each are expected to be undertaken in the agricultural park, including three costing over 100 million yuan each.
A sightseeing park planned for construction, covering an area of 2,300 mu (153.3 hectares), is expected to cost around 170 million yuan. A rural complex offering beautiful sights, catering services, accommodation, and fruit picking will be built as well.
The park has also cooperated with the Suzhou Polytechnic Institute of Agriculture with the help of Hai'an's bureau of agriculture and rural affairs, and experts have been invited to offer technical guidance and help cultivate high-quality pitaya (dragon fruit).
In addition, modern technology is used in the park to promote intelligent cultivation. To date, around 90 percent of enterprises in the park have adopted precise detection, agricultural internet of things, a quality traceability system, and other forms of advanced technology.
Intelligent greenhouses and improved supporting devices have helped local farmers increase their yield and save on labor. Farmers are also able to manage and monitor their greenhouses using their smart phones.
