Yu Wen is a sampling worker at the disease prevention center in Gangzha district, Nantong, Jiangsu province. She has been busy collecting samples of oropharyngeal swabs in the district since the outbreak of COVID-19.
As a security precaution, patients’ close contacts who have no apparent symptoms are asked to stay at home in quarantine for 14 days. Yu visits local close contacts every day to check whether they are infected or not.
She always carefully puts on a protective suit before taking samples and gets disinfected after her work, in order to protect both herself and people around her from infection.
When taking samples, Yu is as concerned about the results as the close contacts, feeling relieved when the results show that the person is not infected.
To date, there has been no confirmed case among the local close contacts in quarantine at home.
