Jinghua Pharmaceutical Group Co, a leading pharmaceutical company in Nantong, East China's Jiangsu province, recently donated 470,000 yuan ($67,163) in medicine to local elderly care centers.

A delegation led by Zhou Yunzhong, president of the company, visited 13 nursing centers for the elderly in Chongchuan district from Feb 8 to 9.

The delegation handed out a total of 17,000 boxes of ZhengChaihu Granules, Jinqiaomai Tablets, Dizziness Treatment Syrup, and Wangshi Baochiwan, some of the company's signature products, to help treat gastrointestinal diseases and viral colds.

The company resumed operations on Jan 28, the fourth day of the Chinese Lunar New Year, to help battle the novel coronavirus and alleviate the nationwide shortage of antiviral cold medicine.

According to a spokesman, more than 160 workers have returned to their posts and production lines have been operating around the clock.

The local government approved of the company's contribution and has supported the company in a variety of ways, including transporting raw materials.
