Rugao reports stable export for first 11 months of 2019

The import and export trade in Rugao, a county-level city in Nantong, East China's Jiangsu province, were valued at 22.02 billion yuan ($3.15 billion) from January to November of this year, according to statistics provided by the local customs.

Exports increased by 1.1 percent year-on-year to 18.21 billion yuan, while imports dropped 7.7 percent to 3.81 billion yuan.

The value of general trade was 16 billion yuan, accounting for 72.7 percent of the city's total foreign trade. Processing trade increased 6.1 percent to 5 billion yuan.

Notably, the import and export turnover at the local bonded warehouse increased 150 percent to 1.01 billion yuan.

The import and export trade with the European Union and Japan rose 23.24 percent and 6.1 percent respectively to 5.39 billion yuan and 2.62 billion yuan.

During the same period, trade with the United States, ASEAN members, and countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative were valued at 3.87 billion yuan, 2.37 billion yuan, and 5.05 billion yuan respectively.

Exports of electromechanical products, textiles, and other products (mainly furniture and toys) increased 26.6 percent, 2.7 percent, and 20 percent respectively to 5.85 billion yuan, 3.37 billion yuan, and 3.88 billion yuan.

The city also exported petrochemical and agricultural products valued at 1.65 billion yuan and 1.37 billion yuan respectively.
