Rugao, a county-level city in Nantong, East China's Jiangsu province, signed 20 project deals at a promotional conference held in Shenzhen, South China's Guangdong province, on Dec 9.

The projects involved 5G equipment manufacturing, pharmaceutical machinery, comics and animation, computer games, and cold chain logistics. They received a combined total of 9.8 billion yuan ($1.39 billion) in investment.  

During the conference, Rugao mayor He Yijun briefed attendees on the city's investment environment, development prospects, industrial projects, and preferential policies for skilled workers.

"Rugao not only boasts a profound culture and history, but also an abundance of opportunities brought about by the integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta region," said He.

He encouraged entrepreneurs from Shenzhen and nearby cities to visit Rugao and contribute to the city's social and economic development.
