Rudong, a county in Nantong, Jiangsu province, is building Asia's largest offshore wind power center, China's largest wind power equipment manufacturing center, and a national energy center.

To date, more than 28 million metric tons of natural gas has been shipped to East China through the Yangkou Port from over 20 countries, including Qatar, Australia, and Russia.

The port is expected to be capable of shipping over 10 million tons of liquefied natural gas (LNG) annually by the end of 2020, and 32.5 million tons within the next few years.

Data shows that 100 million cubic meters of natural gas can replace 120,000 tons of coal, reduce emissions by 110,000 tons of carbon dioxide and 4,000 tons of sulfur dioxide, and completely eliminate PM 2.5 emissions.

Accordingly, a total of 18 wind power plants were built in Rudong from January to September, generating over 2.5 billion kilowatt hours of electricity for the county.

Rudong has also attracted equipment manufacturing enterprises along with its new wind power plants, extending its industrial chains.

Rudong has a total of 83 operational wind power enterprises. An integrated cluster has been formed for equipment manufacturing, the construction of wind power plants, and general maintenance.

The taxable sales value of the new energy and related equipment manufacturing industries in the county exceeded 50 billion yuan during the first nine months of this year.
