An expressway linking the six counties, districts and county-level cities of Nantong in East China’s Jiangsu province will complete its three-year construction by the end of September, according to information released by the construction company’s headquarters.

Hai'an-Qidong expressway is a key transport project in the 13th Five-Year Plan (2016-20) for Jiangsu province and an important part of the expressway network of Jiangsu.

The expressway is around 131 kilometers long. It will run from Haian city, passing through Rudong county, Tongzhou city and Haimen city, before finally arriving in Qidong.

It will connect the Xuean transport hub in the intersection of the Jianghai (S28) and Shenhai expressways (G15) in the west to the Chongqi Bridge in the east.

The expressway has a total of eight lanes and a designed top speed of 120 km/h.

Officials said that construction of the expressway started in October, 2016.

They said that when it opens to traffic, scheduled for October 1, it will provide a fast route to all the jurisdictions in Nantong.

At present key projects -- such as grading, bridges and greening along the expressway -- have all been completed. Meanwhile, construction of auxiliary facilities, including traffic signs, street lighting and bridge expansion joints, have entered the final stage.
