The heavy cargo terminal at Fengshan Port in Hai'an, Jiangsu province, has entered its final stage of construction, with the installation of a gantry crane on Sept 17.
The crane has a maximum lifting capacity of 500 metric tons and is equipped with two 50-ton auxiliary hooks. It can handle large equipment weighing more than 200 tons as well as smaller equipment weighing less than 100 tons.
The remaining work will include the installation and commissioning of the end beams, trolley platform and other supporting facilities. The terminal is expected to be completed by the end of September and begin operations during the National Day holiday, said Zhang Yi, deputy head of the multimodal transport department of Jiangsu Hai'an Trade and Logistics Group.
Once operational, the terminal will mainly serve Hai'an's equipment manufacturing sector, helping local companies reduce logistics costs, improve transport efficiency and bring Hai'an-made large equipment to global markets.
