The Qidong base of Nantong Xiangyu Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering achieved steady growth in the first half of 2026, with revenue reaching 850 million yuan (125.49 million). The company has 40 vessels on order, with production scheduled through 2029.

In August 2024, Nantong Xiangyu SOE acquired Jiangsu Hongqiang Heavy Industry to build a new offshore engineering base. The Qidong facility was renovated in early 2025 and went into operation on Aug 1, 2025. It is dedicated to building energy-efficient bulk carriers, offshore engineering vessels, and specialized ships.

Since production began, the yard has delivered several vessels. Its first, Fanzhou 7, was handed over at the start of this year. In June, it delivered a 63,000-deadweight-tonnage general cargo vessel — the first ship built entirely at the Qidong facility.

Wang Gang, assistant general manager of Nantong Xiangyu SOE, said the company plans to start construction on 12 ships this year, with six already started. The yard aims to launch eight ships and deliver six by the end of the year.
