In the first half of this year, the first phase of Jiangsu's largest fishery-solar project  generated 261 million kilowatt-hours of electricity — enough to meet the annual power needs of approximately 510,000 residents.

Spanning about 5,850 mu (390 hectares) of intertidal flats west of Lyusi Fishing Port in Qidong, Nantong, the project comprises 121 PV units. It adopts a hybrid model that combines power generation above water with aquaculture below, enabling the coordinated development of clean energy and fishery production without altering the original use of the sea area.

Upon full operation, the project is expected to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by approximately 490,000 metric tons annually. The shading effect of the PV arrays helps curb excessive algae growth and improves the aquaculture environment, delivering both environmental and economic benefits.

By balancing environmental protection with industrial development, the project achieves win-win outcomes and offers a replicable model for sustainable coastal development.
