Three villages in Haimen district, Nantong, have been selected for the 2026 list of Jiangsu's characteristic idyllic countryside demonstration sites, the highest number in the city, bringing its total to 10 villages of this kind. 

Those that made the list include Yongdang, Wujiayuan, and Wujia villages.

Yongdang village in Yuelai town has transferred 2,800 mu (186.67 hectares) of land for rice-wheat farming. It also develops greenhouse cultivation, freshwater aquaculture, and recreational fishing to optimize the ecological and livable environment.

Wujiayuan village in Zhengyu town hosts 18 industrial firms including Nantong Weien Auto Parts, and employs over 300 locals. It has an annual revenue exceeding 2 million yuan ($294,117).

Wujia village in Zhengyu town, preserves the intangible cultural heritage of osmanthus-flavored pickled melon, and operates a 3,000-mu vegetable base with a full industrial chain. In 2025, its per capita income hit 47,000 yuan and collective revenue exceeded 1.5 million yuan.
