Qidong has rolled out a holiday experience unlike any other this Spring Festival, blending immersive cultural events, festive folk traditions, and the rich flavors of the coast.
One of the city's most distinctive New Year rituals is greeting the first sunrise in Jiangsu province. At the Yuantuojiao Tourist Resort, where the Yangtze River meets the Yellow Sea and the East China Sea, visitors can watch the sun rise over the sea, casting golden light across the water. The seaside grassland at Jianghai Lanwan Resort and the open viewing platform along the eastern sea embankment also offer sweeping, unobstructed views of the dramatic sunrise over the ocean.
Cultural celebrations take center stage at Tang World, blending traditional aesthetics with engaging storytelling. By day, visitors walk through Chinese-style markets and watch performances representing eight forms of intangible cultural heritage. As night falls, fireworks light the sky, bonfire dance parties energize the crowd, and costumed performers lead visitors through interactive, story-based activities.

Festive joy continues with a grand folk parade featuring eight themed groups. Community spirit is on full display at the second edition of the village gala, where residents perform self-created songs, dances, and short plays.
Qidong's museums and cultural venues provide a peaceful yet equally enriching holiday experience. Art shows, calligraphy contests, photography exhibitions, book giveaways, lantern riddles, and holiday film screenings collectively contribute to a lively cultural schedule during the festival. For those seeking relaxation, winter is an ideal time to unwind in Qidong's hot springs.
The Five Nations Hot Spring Town at Yuantuojiao offers immersive bathing experiences inspired by Japan, Thailand, Finland, Italy, and Turkiye. Nearby resorts combine hot springs with themed cuisine, tea ceremonies, and tranquil coastal settings, offering a restorative escape from the holiday bustle.
No Spring Festival in Qidong feels complete without its traditional food. Fresh seafood landed daily from the local fishing port stars in time-honored dishes, while hearty braised meats and home-style specialties warm the table. Traditional New Year pastries and snacks, enjoyed by generations of local families, add a sweet touch to the season of reunion.
