The Fisherman's Wharf tourist complex located in the southern part of Yuantuojiao Resort – in Qidong city, administered by Nantong in East China's Jiangsu province – will open more thrilling attractions on Feb 26 to celebrate the Lantern Festival.
They came in the form of a dynamic dome theater and a cartoon theme amusement park.
As the highlight of the wharf's cultural experience center, the dome theater creates 500 square meters of highly immersive cinematic experience and can accommodate an audience of 60.
The visuals are powered by 12 8K (8,000-pixel resolution) projectors that are fitted discreetly to form a hemispheric screen of 15 meters in diameter. It is the first theater of its kind in Nantong and is designed to create strong audio-visual shocks and provide unique entertainment for audiences.
The amusement park, based on the Octonauts, a British animated deep-sea children's adventure television series, adds another thrill to the project. It has three floors with a total floor area of more than 5,000 sq m, capable of accommodating over 600 people.
Decorated mainly in blue, the park has recreational facilities both indoors and outdoors. The East Sea Adventure Park is the major outdoors attraction, featuring coastal scenes. It offers a wide variety of entertainment options like climbing, sliding and playing with water.
The indoor space is divided into "under the sea", "in the sea" and "on the sea" – each on a different floor – and is packed with trampolines, ball pools and net-hanging experiences. There is also a special area set up for young children to have fun in a safe way.
Major construction work on the Fisherman's Wharf has been finished and the two new attractions are the first to open for trial operations. The landscaping along of the 1.1-km street is still underway.
According to the main contractor, local gourmet food stores will be opened mid-March to provide a memorable culinary experience.
