Nantong traveling companies are now busy contacting scenic spots after the Ministry of Culture and Tourism announced on July 14 that trans-provincial tours will be allowed to resume and restrictions on the number of tourists will be loosened.

The national announcement stated that travel agencies and online travel enterprises will be able to resume trans-provincial group tours and "flight + hotel" packages as long as they take the necessary precautions and receive permission from the provincial Party Committee and government.

"We have not yet received a notice from the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism. After receiving approval, we will follow up and help enterprises reopen, promoting the recovery of tourism in Nantong," said Xu Xiuhua, director of the marketing management department of the Nantong Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism.

He also said that scenic spots in Nantong have taken measures such as requiring reservations and limiting the number of visitors to prevent the spread of infection.

"Ctrip has already prepared 120,000 tour groups," said an employee at the Nantong branch of Ctrip, China's leading online travel agency.

Nantong locals are getting excited about travelling and are making travel plans after it was announced that trans-provincial tours will reopen.

"We can finally travel around now," said Mr. Liu, "but epidemic prevention and control measures should not be ignored. I will be fully prepared with masks and hand gel."
