Yangkou Port Chemical Pilot Base in Rudong county of Nantong, Jiangsu province, has secured six high-end projects since its opening in May 2025, with nearly 10 more in the pipeline.

The strong demand signals a growing necessity to bridge the gap between laboratory research and production in advanced materials. The facility, positioned as the Yangtze River Delta's commercialization hub, targets national-priority tracks including electronic chemicals and new energy materials, all geared toward reducing reliance on imports.

Established with an investment of 350 million yuan ($48 million) and operated by Jiangsu Nayang New Materials Technology Development, the base is home to a team led by Academician Zhu Meifang of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.

The base also partners with Nanomicro Technology, the Sunan Institute for Molecular Engineering at Peking University and Donghua University through a co-innovation, joint research and development and incubation model.

The collaboration focuses on translating cutting-edge research into commercially viable products across the base's core material sectors.
