Yangkou Port EDZ reaches new heights in 2025 with remarkable progress

The Yangkou Port Economic Development Zone in Rudong county, Nantong, Jiangsu province, delivered outstanding results in 2025, marked by significant advancements in economic performance, industrial growth, innovation, and infrastructure.The zone achieved major breakthroughs in its economic development. In 2025, general public budget revenue reached 1.17 billion yuan ($170.56 million), surpassing the annual target. Total import and export volume hit 41.5 billion yuan, accounting for 68 percent of the county's total.
With a strategic focus on high-end chemicals, new materials, and green energy, the zone signed 13 projects throughout the year, representing a total investment exceeding 8 billion yuan. The zone also saw 10 new groundbreaking projects last year, hitting a five-year high.
In the realm of innovation, the zone made notable strides. The province's first chemical pilot base, located in the zone, was officially inaugurated. Southeast University's big science facility for polar extreme environment research has also established a presence in the zone.
The past year also witnessed historic progress in infrastructure development. For example, the State Council officially approved the expansion of Yangkou Port. The container route from Yangkou Port to Taicang Port was also launched, resulting in a 15 percent reduction in logistics costs.
