Co-May, the eighth typhoon of the year, swept toward China's eastern coast with strong force. By 10 am on July 30, the last vehicle had crossed the Yellow Sea Bridge and exited Sunshine Island in Yangkou Port, Rudong county, marking the transition of the bustling port into full typhoon defense mode—bridges closed, ships evacuated, vehicles cleared, and people relocated.

In the afternoon, strong winds and heavy rains pounded the coastline. At the Jinniu Wharf N1 and N2 berth construction site, large machinery was secured with wind anchors, temporary housing and containers were reinforced with cables, construction vehicles were relocated to safer areas, and the cofferdam of the approach bridge was raised and widened with protective nets installed. Power switch boxes were laid flat to minimize wind damage.

"All workers have been evacuated. Construction vessels have moved to sheltered waters, and we've relocated small, unsecured equipment and raw materials to eliminate safety risks on site," said Zuo Xin, the project manager. Emergency supplies such as sandbags and ton bags were pre-positioned at key points along the sea dike, along with two excavators to reinforce storm surge defenses.

As of 2 pm on July 30, all offshore transport ships and port tugboats had evacuated the waters around Yangkou Port, construction work across the port area had been suspended, and all personnel had taken shelter to ensure safety.
