Private enterprises in Rudong county, Jiangsu province, recorded a total import and export value of 3.63 billion yuan ($503.57 million) in the first quarter, marking a 7.9 percent year-on-year increase. Exports alone reached 3.28 billion yuan, an increase of 12.6 percent, accounting for 64.4 percent of the county's total exports.
One standout product was laver, with exports surpassing 600 metric tons in the first quarter, an increase of 12.9 percent compared to the same period last year. "Malaysia is a newly developed market for us," said Huang Haixiang, general manager of Nantong Guanqun Aquatic Food. "Initially, when we exported there last year, we were not familiar with Malaysia's regulations." In response, Rudong Customs offered customized support by clarifying relevant Malaysian laws and assisting the company in screening raw materials to comply with standards, which facilitated a smooth market entry.
Since the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership came into effect, Rudong Customs has actively assisted local companies in maximizing policy benefits. This includes promoting paperless declarations for certificates of origin, effectively lowering costs and enhancing global competitiveness.
Rudong Customs also supports qualified private enterprises in obtaining Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) certification. The AEO program provides benefits such as reduced inspection rates, exemptions from guarantees, and faster customs clearance in countries and regions that acknowledge this status.
