In the first quarter of 2025, the Yangkou Port liquefied terminal handled 27 foreign trade vessels serving the Tongkun polyester project, marking an 80 percent year-on-year increase. Cargo throughput reached 286,800 metric tons, up 129.44 percent compared to the same period last year.
To enhance port efficiency, the Nantong Maritime Safety Administration has introduced a one-stop government service model. This initiative enables swift processing of procedures such as the declaration of hazardous cargo, port entry or exit applications, and inspections.
The maritime department has also adopted digital tools to track ship movements in real time. By monitoring vessel location, direction, and speed, authorities can proactively identify and mitigate potential safety risks, ensuring secure navigation throughout the port.
The Tongkun polyester project, operated by Jiatong Energy, is a major green and intelligent polyester production base funded by Tongkun Group. With a total planned investment of 48 billion yuan ($6.59 billion), the facility adopts the world's most advanced PTA and polyester spinning technologies, with an annual production capacity of 5 million tons of PTA and 2.4 million tons of high-performance fibers. In 2024, it achieved taxable sales of 39.5 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 25.49 percent.
