On Oct 8, Yangkou Port's Jinniu Terminal reached a significant milestone with the successful installation of its first gantry crane at Berth W1, marking a new phase in the terminal's construction.
The gantry crane installation was carried out using a lifting barge, with the crane being transported from Nanjing to the berth by ship and hoisted into place by a floating crane. The crane itself weighs approximately 520 metric tons. The crane's control room is equipped with a cable traction system capable of transporting submarine cables up to 360mm in diameter.
The Jinniu Terminal is a key infrastructure project aimed at enhancing the port's handling and transportation capacity. The project includes the construction of 13 general-purpose berths, each capable of accommodating 50,000-ton vessels, along with supporting navigational channels.
Once completed, the terminal will open new sea routes for companies and provide critical support for Yangkou Port's expansion in the new equipment, renewable energy, and advanced materials sectors.
