On Sept 8, the PetroChina Jiangsu LNG Terminal at Rudong's Yangkou Port hit a significant milestone. A liquefied natural gas vessel from Russia's Yamal completed its unloading, pushing the terminal's total LNG imports to over 60 million metric tons since its opening in 2011.

This achievement is equivalent to the reduction of carbon dioxide emissions by 210 million tons, sulfur dioxide by 1.92 million tons, and particulate matter by approximately 1 million tons. These reductions bear a resemblance to the act of planting over 400 million trees, marking significant environmental benefits.

The terminal, which has expanded twice since its initial operation, now boasts six LNG storage tanks with a total capacity of 1.08 million cubic meters.

Over the past 13 years, the terminal has received over 700 LNG shipments from 26 countries and regions, including Qatar, Australia, and Russia, supplying over 80 billion cubic meters of natural gas. From January to August of this year, its LNG imports grew 8 percent compared to the previous year.

As a crucial energy hub for the East China region, the terminal can store up to 670 million cubic meters of natural gas at total capacity. During this year's peak summer demand, it maintained high output, with a single-day maximum gas transmission reaching 39 million cubic meters. The terminal supplies the Yangtze River Delta region through pipeline distribution and tanker transportation.
