The Jiangsu Provincial Maritime Safety Administration convened an expert consultation meeting on Dec 6 on the waterway safety conditions for the inbound channel project in the Jinniu Wharf area of Yangkou Port.

Representatives from the administration, Jiangsu Provincial Department of Transportation, Yangkou Port Economic Development Zone Administrative Committee, CCCC First Harbor Consultants Co Ltd and several other institutions, along with five specially-invited experts, participated in the meeting.

During the session, the designer of the Jinniu Wharf presented an overview of the project, while the report compiler provided a detailed analysis of the project's impact on waterway safety and outlined corresponding measures.

The inbound channel for the Jinniu Wharf area is designed to meet the navigation standards for single-direction transit of 50,000-ton bulk carriers. Stretching about 12.85 kilometers, the channel will be flanked by two breakwaters to enhance navigational safety.

The Yangkou Port Economic Development Zone expressed its commitment to expediting the administrative approval process and aims to initiate construction on the inbound channels by 2024.
