The bay area from Yangkou Port to Dongling Port in Rudong county, Nantong, Jiangsu province is a picturesque coastal gem. With a shoreline spanning 31.83 kilometers, the region is renowned for its pristine environment, abundant resources, and biological diversity.

In recent years, Rudong county has witnessed remarkable improvement in the environment of its nearshore areas. In 2022, the proportion of nearshore waters with excellent water quality reached 91.7 percent, a notable 4.83-percentage-point increase compared to the average from 2019 to 2021.

The bay area also sees 53.3 hectares of new greenery per year. By 2022, 28 national key protected species with a population exceeding 2,000, including the spoon-billed sandpiper, had been spotted in the area.

The Yangkou Port Economic Development Zone has been shifting its industrial focus from chemicals storage to clean energy in order to protect the environment and foster growth in such areas as information technology and new energy.
