A significant juncture was recently reached in the second phase of the Yangtong Expressway, a major transportation project in Rudong county, Nantong, East China's Jiangsu province. The final segment of the box girder was successfully placed, and paving began on the first layer of water-stable sub-base for the road surface.
Xiao Junyi, a project manager, explained that in order to ensure stable construction quality and efficiency, they have employed a number of measures including imposing strict control over raw material quality, upgrading mixing stations, and implementing smart management systems.
The second phase of the Yangtong Expressway, spanning about 16 kilometers, starts from the Yangkou Port Economic Development Zone. It features a dual-directional four-lane design with a target speed of 120 kilometers per hour. The project is expected to be fully completed and operational by the end of next year.
Zhu Xinhui, who is in charge of the project construction, said upon completion of the second phase that Yangkou Port will connect to national mainline expressways. This is important in relieving regional traffic congestion, enhancing the shipping and transportation conditions of the Yangkou Port area, and promoting economic and social development along the route, Zhu added.
