PetroChina Jiangsu liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal at Yangkou Port's Yangguang Island in Rudong county, Nantong, Jiangsu province is set to construct a new LNG storage tank.

Upon completion of the new tank, the terminal's natural gas supply capacity will increase by 30 percent, exceeding 10 million metric tons annually.

The PetroChina Jiangsu LNG terminal, which started operating in 2011, is the first LNG project built by PetroChina. It currently boasts six LNG storage tanks with a total capacity of 1.08 million cubic meters.

Over the past 12 years, the terminal has imported over 50 million tons of LNG and delivered over 72 billion cubic meters of natural gas, which produces 180 million fewer tons of carbon dioxide and 1.5 million fewer tons of sulfur dioxide compared to coal of the same energy value, according to Zhu Binbin, deputy manager of production and operation at PetroChina Jiangsu LNG Co Ltd.

The terminal is now the largest in Jiangsu province and has received LNG vessels from 25 countries along the Belt and Road, such as Qatar and Russia.
