The over-water construction of the Yellow Sea Second Bridge was completed on Sept 25, signaling 75 percent completion of construction of the structure.

The bridge is a major infrastructure project being undertaken in the Yangkou Port Economic Development Zone in Rudong county – administered by Nantong city in East China's Jiangsu province.

The Yellow Sea Second Bridge is a key project of Jiangsu province's comprehensive transportation system and is expected to be open to traffic in June 2023.

Running in parallel and some 30 meters apart from the first Yellow Sea Bridge, the Second Bridge is 10.04 kilometers long, costing a total of 1.1 billion yuan ($152.81 million).

Once finished, the carrying capacity for road tankers and the support capacity for industrial projects in the Yangkou Port area is expected to double.

Relying on the port's efficient terminals, the Yangkou Port Economic Development Zone now welcomes a batch of projects each with an investment of more than 10 billion yuan, including the APP Rudong Industrial Base and the Tongkun polyester integration project.
