The first phase of the APP Rudong manufacturing complex, a massive household paper production base located in the Yangkou Port Economic Development Zone in Rudong county, Nantong in East China's Jiangsu province, is expected to be fully completed and put into operation by the end of this year.

The complex, with a total investment of 15 billion yuan ($6.63 billion), is funded by giant paper product manufacturer Asia Pulp and Paper (APP), a subsidiary of Sinar Mas Group, one of the largest business conglomerates in Indonesia.

The first phase of the complex is planned to cover an area of about 167 hectares and receive 10 billion yuan in investment. There will be seven production lines producing Breeze, Emporia and other leading household paper products brands from APP.

Twelve machines on production lines No 1, 2 and 4 have been successfully installed and put into production. The construction of the rest of the productions lines are in full swing.

In order to ensure workers' health and safety during operations in summer, construction hours have been arranged in shifts and adjusted to the relatively cool hours of the day, and all workers are provided with drinks and anti-heat medicine.

At present, more than 2,200 construction workers and more than 1,900 production workers are sticking to their respective positions to ensure efficient construction and orderly production.

According to officials, after its completion, the first phase of the complex can produce 780,000 metric tons of household paper products every year.
