The installation of 454 high-strength concrete support piles for the Yellow Sea Second Bridge was completed on June 19 – marking the point where about 65 percent of its construction has now completed.
The bridge is a major infrastructure project being undertaken in the Yangkou Port Economic Development Zone in Rudong county – administered by Nantong city in East China's Jiangsu province. When completed, it is expected to bring substantial economic benefits.
Construction on the bridge, to cost 1.1 billion yuan ($164 million), began on June 13, 2020 and it is expected to open to traffic in June 2023.
It runs parallel to the first Yellow Sea Bridge and the two structures are 30 meters apart.
Once finished, the carrying capacity for road tankers and the support capacity for industrial projects in the Yangkou Port area are expected to be greatly enhanced.
