The seven-day Spring Festival holiday which began on Jan 31 was the peak period for the civil use of natural gas.
Before the Spring Festival, PetroChina's Jiangsu LNG Terminal – located on Yangguang Island of Yangkou Port in Rudong county of Nantong city in East China's Jiangsu province – received and unloaded its last liquefied natural gas (LNG) tanker, AL MAYEDA, before the Spring Festival.
With a length of 345 meters, a maximum draft of 12 meters and a height of 55 meters above water, AL MAYEDA is one of the world's largest LNG carriers.
"This is the last shipment before the festival, and this shipment of LNG can be gasified into about 160 million cubic meters of natural gas, which can meet the demand of residents in the Yangtze River Delta for the whole holiday," said Chen Ruxia, official of the PetroChina's Jiangsu LNG Terminal.
According to Chen, in order to ensure that every family had an adequate gas supply during the holiday, PetroChina's Jiangsu LNG Terminal strengthened the on-duty and pipeline inspection and equipped a professional maintenance team to be on call 24 hours a day.
