Rudong ensures smooth customs clearances for natural gas
The Marshall Islands-flagged LNG tanker MEKAINES reportedly became this year's 80th liquefied natural gas or LNG tanker to dock at Yangkou Port – located in Rudong county, Nantong city in East China's Jiangsu province – when it berthed there on Nov 25.
As an important port for LNG distribution in China, Yangkou Port has been busy since the start of the winter gas supply season in East China in early November.
In order to ensure smooth customs clearances of arriving natural gas, Rudong Customs continues to strengthen its supervision and optimize its services for LNG imports.
According to statistics from Rudong Customs, from January to October this year, Rudong Port received and unloaded 5.81 million tons of LNG, up 35.4 percent year-on-year.
LNG is a high-quality, low-carbon green energy. Its main component is methane, the overall greenhouse gas emissions of which are only 15 percent that of gasoline.
China is said to have the recovery in liquefied natural gas demand following the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic.
It is expected to further boost its LNG demand, as the country pledges solid efforts towards its targets for peak carbon emissions and to achieve carbon neutrality.
