Under the watch of the maritime safety administration in Nantong city in East China's Jiangsu province, two liquefied natural gas or LNG tankers – the Boris Davydov and the Al Mayeda – recently completed unloading at Yangkou Port LNG terminal in Nantong's Rudong county.
Affected by the cold wave and turbulent weather, there was demurrage – meaning the tankers were detained beyond their allotted time for loading, unloading and sailing – at Yangkou Port.
To ensure navigation safety and adequate gas supplies this winter, the Nantong maritime safety administration has been actively been problem-solving and has opened up fast-track channels to promote efficient receiving and unloading of tankers at the port's LNG terminal.
The peak season for natural gas supplies runs from November to March 2022. The terminal is expected to handle 20 more LNG vessels by the end of the year.
The natural gas is then transported as far as northern Zhejiang province, eastern Hubei province and southwestern Shandong province.
