The railway project linking the Yangkou Port area to Lyusi Port area – or the Yangkou-Lyusi Railway, located in Nantong city in East China's Jiangsu province – officially began construction on Aug 12, with the drilling of the first foundation pile of the line.
Located in the northeast of Nantong, the line is not only expected to be an important part of the new Tongzhou Bay collection and distribution system, but also the key railway channel from Sanmenxia city in Central China's Henan province to the coastal ports in Jiangsu.
The total length of the line will be 85.12 kilometers and the total investment is 9.92 billion yuan ($1.53 billion).
The project is being undertaken by China Railway 24th Bureau Group Co Ltd.
