After more than one year of construction, the first production line in the first phase of the APP Rudong industrial base – located in the Yangkou Port Economic Development Zone in Rudong county, Nantong city, East China's Jiangsu province – successfully began operating on June 26.
Each paper machine on the production line is expected to produce about 30,000 tons of high-grade paper products for daily use every year.
The APP Rudong industrial base is funded by giant paper product manufacturer Asia Pulp and Paper, a subsidiary of Sinar Mas Group, one of the largest business conglomerates in Indonesia.
The base will cover an area of about 567 hectares and receive 45 billion yuan ($6.97 billion) in total investment. After its completion, there will be a truck every six minutes to transport products from the Rudong base to other regions around the world.
Construction on the first phase of the base began in July 2019 with an investment of more than 10 billion yuan. There will be seven production lines, with four paper machines for each production line.
Upon completion, the annual output of the first phase is expected to reach 780,000 tons of paper products, with an expected annual turnover of more than 10 billion yuan and annual profit and tax revenue of more than 1.8 billion yuan.
"Our goal this year is to put 20 paper machines into production on five production lines, with a capacity of 540,000 tons," said Xia Yinghua, general manager of the base.
As one of the most modern industrial projects with among the largest investment in the history of Nantong, the APP Rudong industrial base is setting itself the goal of becoming the world's largest, most intelligent, and most environmentally friendly household paper production base.
