Hou Zhenxing, the director of the water transport planning division of the Ministry of Transport, as well as other ministry delegates visited the Yangkou Port Economic Development Zone in Rudong county – administered by Nantong city in East China's Jiangsu province – on April 27.

Chen Lei, deputy director of the Party committee of Rudong county, gave a briefing to the visitors on the geographical advantages, local resources and development path of Yangkou Port.

Yangkou Port has remained true to its strategy of becoming an "energy island and industrial port", striving to accelerate the development of the local LNG industry and it has made remarkable achievements in that regard, Chen said.

During the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-25), Chen said the port would spare no effort to reach its goal of fixed asset investment of 100 billion yuan ($15.52 billion) – as well as the other goals of annual taxable sales of industry hitting 100 billion yuan, the taxable sales of the services industry reaching 100 billion yuan and the total annual tax revenue reaching 10 billion yuan.

Visiting ministry official Hou Zhenxing spoke highly of the development and construction of Yangkou Port. He said that after decades of unremitting efforts, an outstanding achievement had been created in the building of a great deep-water port in the coastal area of Jiangsu.

The Yangtze River Delta region is one of the fastest-growing regions in the national water transport system and Yangkou Port must make good use of its precious coastal resources and help boost the regional economic development of the YRD, Hou added.
