Rudong announces top 10 public works projects for 2021
Officials from Rudong – a county administered by Nantong city in East China's Jiangsu province – announced 10 major public works projects for 2021 during the fifth session of the 17th Rudong County People's Congress, which concluded on Jan 15.
The essential details of these projects are as follows:
1. Health protection
Construction of a new public health clinical emergency center will be accelerated; seniors aged over 65 in the county will be provided with a free basic health check-up, while toddlers aged 1-2 can have a free varicella vaccination; women and children can be screened for five diseases at no charge.
2. Rural infrastructure construction
A total of 8,000 hectares of high-standard farmland will be added; eight demonstration villages and eight advanced villages for rural revitalization will be established.
3. Educational resource optimization
Renovation of eight schools and one campus will be completed.
4. Pollution prevention and control
The first and second phases of a township sewage treatment plant and a public-private partnership (PPP) project for the comprehensive treatment of the local rural water environment will both be completed.
5. River quality improvement
Nineteen rivers (sections) totaling 150 kilometers will be dredged; Yangkou Port's outer gate hub will be reinforced.
6. Urban management enhancement
Twelve demonstration communities for waste sorting will be built; 300 public parking spaces will be added.
7. Social security strengthened
Some 8,000 new urban jobs will be created and 16,000 new employees are expected to buy pension insurance.
8. Urban upgrade
Fifty new energy vehicle charging piles will be added; 1.2 million square meters of greenery will be added.
9. Housing projects
More affordable houses will be built, with the main structures capped involving at least 300,000 square meters of floor space. Construction to start of affordable homes totaling 400,000 sq m or more of floor space.
10. Public safety improvements
A hundred catering service units will be included in the "internet + transparent kitchen" program.
