The project was invested and constructed by China National Petroleum Corp (CNPC) Jiangsu LNG Co Ltd. The total investment is 8.8 billion yuan ($1.3 billion), and the facility will cover about 30 hectares.
Phase I of the project, with an investment of 6.3 billion yuan and a construction scale of 3.5 million tons per year, has been completed and incudes wharves, trestle bridges, external transport pipelines, three 160,000-square-meter storage tanks and ancillary processing facilities. The liquefied natural gas (LNG) wharf trestle uses a steel pipe pile foundation and a cast-in-place reinforced concrete bearing platform structure, and is 1,970 meters long and 12 meters wide.
Phase II of the project will cost 1 billion yuan and feature a full capacity LNG storage tank with a capacity of 200,000 cubic meters.
The third phase, requiring investment of 1.5 billion yuan, will build two 200,000 cubic meters of LNG storage tanks, eight low-pressure pumps and other supporting facilities. After completion, the total capacity of receiving and gasifying LNG will reach 10 million tons per year.
The annual capacity of receiving and gasifying LNG will be increased to 6.5 million tons from 3.5 million tons after the project is completed.
