Nantong Digital Culture (Video) Industrial Park completes 1st theatrical film
Feature film The Witness successfully concluded principal photography on July 20, making it the first theatrical motion picture to be registered, fully shot, and completed at the Nantong Digital Culture (Video) Industrial Park in the Nantong Economic and Technological Development Area (NETDA).
The Witness is a suspense film directed by Wang Tao and starring Li Yuan and Guo Pinchao in leading roles. The film began shooting on June 26 and is scheduled for a wide theatrical release during the 2026 Labor Day holiday, promising audiences an immersive audio-visual experience.
As a pivotal hub for film and television production in the city, the Nantong Digital Culture (Video) Industrial Park offered The Witness versatile indoor and outdoor shooting venues. Its production support center ensured efficient operations, drastically cutting filming time and allowing the crew to wrap up the project ahead of schedule.
Since its establishment in 2024, the park has signed agreements on over 10 digital cultural industry projects, including the Huace micro-short drama base and Jiuzhou micro-short drama base.
With a focus on micro-short dramas, NETDA plans to concentrate on six key areas, including video production, video technology, large-scale model applications, and utilizing digital cultural formats to drive industrial diversification and upgrading.
