NETDA establishes partnership with SWS
Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding Co (SWS), a subsidiary of China State Shipbuilding Corporation Limited (CSSC), formalized a strategic partnership with Nantong Economic and Technological Development Area (NETDA) on July 22 to establish a green, intelligent, synergistic and efficient shipbuilding and marine engineering equipment industry ecosystem in Nantong.
The company is mainly involved in civil ships, marine engineering, and ship supporting equipment, ranking among the most scaled, modernized, specialized, and influential shipbuilding enterprises in the industry. As of the end of June 2025, the company had delivered a total of 596 ships and offshore engineering products, exceeding 100 million deadweight tons.
The successful landing of this project signifies that China's top three major shipbuilding groups — CSSC, China Merchants Group, and China COSCO Shipping Corp — have now all established a presence in Nantong. This will further bolster the development of the city's high-end equipment manufacturing cluster and generate substantial economic and social benefits.
