The construction of a new material facility in the Nantong Economic and Technological Development Area (NETDA) in East China's Jiangsu province, started on Sept 21.
Funded by Nantong Daming New Material Technology Co Ltd, the facility will cost more than 1 billion yuan ($138.93 million) to build and is expected to be a model of the sustainability efforts of the concrete industry in China, according to authorities.
The Daming company was established by Nantong Daming Concrete Co Ltd and Nantong Suken Logistics Co Ltd with the help of the local government. The government has played a vital role in coordinating the use of idle land of Suken Logistics and helps Daming move here.
Daming is asked to focus on the sustainability of the concrete industry, said an official from the area's housing and urban-rural development bureau.
To achieve this goal, Daming will cooperate with universities including Southeast University to focus on intelligent manufacturing, logistics transportation, architectural design and material transfer to build an intelligent concrete enterprise.
Bao Jinlong, president of Daming concrete, said that the local government does not only play a pivotal role in helping his company move to a new location, but also offers guidance on how to achieve sustainability.
