Nantong holds press conference showcasing cooperation achievements with SJTU
A press conference highlighting the collaborative achievements between Nantong and Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU) was held on July 12 in the Nantong National High-tech Industrial Development Zone (NHIZ).
As part of the Nantong Jianghai Talent Entrepreneurship Week, the conference gathered approximately 150 guests, including representatives from governments, universities, research institutes, 80 key enterprises, and 20 financial institutions across Shanghai and Nantong, who learned about the fruitful results of the collaboration.
NHIZ and SJTU co-established the Shanghai Jiao Tong University Nantong Institute for Advanced Technology in July 2024, focusing on fields such as new materials, intelligent equipment, green marine engineering, and general aviation in an effort to drive R&D, commercialization of innovations, and business incubation.
To date, the institute has attracted seven high-quality sci-tech enterprises and initiated four industry-academia-research projects with companies like Tri Star Group. The institute and enterprises operating within it have filed 16 patents, including 11 invention patents and five utility model patents.
Ni Chunqing, Nantong Minister of the Organization Department, said that Nantong and SJTU enjoy a long-standing partnership, having completed over 150 research projects and jointly built 13 laboratories in recent years. He expressed hopes for deeper collaboration anchored by the institute.
The event also witnessed the signing ceremony of three high-level talent entrepreneurship projects, including a carbon nanotube industrialization project. Concurrently, the institute successfully brokered three strategic industry-academia-research partnerships. Additionally, the High-Performance Metallic Materials Research Center of the institute was inaugurated.
