Tongzhou's industrial upgrade pays off
Tongzhou district in Nantong has made significant achievements in industrial optimization and upgrading.
In the first five months of this year, the profits of its enterprises above designated size saw a 12.2-percent year-on-year increase. It is currently home to 242 such firms in strategic emerging sectors. Their industrial output has contributed 37.8 percent to the total industrial value of enterprises above designated size.
Tongzhou has excelled in cultivating key industrial chains. For example, its semiconductor sector has attracted industry leaders like Zhongkeyi (Nantong) Semiconductor Equipment Co, China's leading manufacturer of semiconductor dry vacuum pumps, and Pi Semiconductor (Nantong) Co, which boasts world-class test substrate technology for automatic testing equipment.
Tongzhou has also been exploring new frontiers in future industries. For instance, in the first half of this year, it added artificial intelligence to its list of priority industries. Leveraging its strengths in advanced home textiles, intelligent equipment, and new materials, the district will allocate resources to future-oriented industries, including aerospace, advanced equipment, energy, new materials, and communications, with a focus on sub-sectors such as the low-altitude economy, new energy storage, and cutting-edge semiconductors.
