Nantong's economy continues recovery in H1

The economy of Nantong, a city in Jiangsu province, continued its recovery in the first half of this year with its GDP expanding by 5.8 percent year-on-year, according to the Nantong municipal bureau of statistics.

The city's GDP totaled 628.69 billion yuan ($86.71 billion) during the period.

The primary, secondary and tertiary industries in Nantong amounted to 20.54 billion yuan, 312.73 billion yuan, and 295.45 billion yuan, respectively, during the Jan-June period, with year-on-year increases of 1 percent, 8 percent, and 3.8 percent.

The added value of industries above designated size in the city saw a 9.9 percent year-on-year increase, while the output value of high-tech industry accounted for 48.8 percent of the total output of the city's industries above designated size.

The electricity generated by new energy experienced a 13.7 percent year-on-year increase with solar-generated power surging 70.4 percent from the previous year.

The total retail sales of consumer goods in Nantong reached 211.14 billion yuan and its fixed asset investment climbed 5.4 percent year-on-year in the first six months of this year.

The per capita disposable income of residents in the city stood at 28,287 yuan, up 5.1 percent year-on-year. The numbers for urban and rural residents totaled 34,133 yuan and 17,935 yuan, respectively, 4.2 percent and 7 percent increases from previous year.
