Nantong Party secretary shares city's green development

Wu Xinming, Party secretary of Nantong in East China's Jiangsu province, delivered a speech at the High-level Forum on Green Development during the third Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation, which was held in Beijing from Oct 17 to 18.

Wu introduced the construction of a beautiful Nantong, saying that the city, a strategic point of the BRI along the Yangtze River Economic Belt, has blazed a path of green development.

He noted that Nantong is willing to join hands with all parties to contribute to the BRI.

The Party secretary used a mountain, a ship, and an island to expound on the city's practice and achievements in advancing green progress.

The Binjiang area of the Five Mountain areas in Nantong has become a popular place frequented by local residents and tourists as well as a typical case in protection of the Yangtze River after environmental restoration.

Nantong's shipbuilding and marine engineering industries have become national advanced manufacturing industrial clusters and the city will continue promoting the green and intelligent development of its shipbuilding, high-end textile, new-generation information technology, and three other industries valued at 100 billion yuan ($13.69 billion).

Yangguang Island in Nantong, the largest energy island in China, has been helpful to the city's adjustment of energy structure, energy conservation, and emission reduction.

The green development-themed forum saw the attendance of more than 400 guests from over 40 countries who shared the practices of green development and discussed construction of a green Silk Road.
