Nantong's GDP up 7% in H1

The GDP of Nantong in East China's Jiangsu province totaled 603.24 billion yuan ($83.94 billion) in the first half of this year, a year-on-year increase of 7 percent.

It is the first time in history that the city's GDP has exceeded 600 billion yuan in the first six months of the year.

In the first half of 2023, the value-added of the city's primary, secondary and tertiary industries rose by 4.3 percent to 20.75 billion yuan, 8 percent to 295.68 billion yuan, and 6.2 percent to 286.81 billion yuan, respectively.

Nantong's GDP growth in the first half of 2023 is faster than the 4.3-percent growth in the first quarter of 2023 and the 2.1-percent growth in all of 2022, according to the Nantong municipal statistics bureau.

The city saw a 4.4 percent year-on-year increase in fixed asset investment in the January-June period and its investment in the service industry expanded by 8.2 percent year-on-year in the same period.

The per capita disposable income of the city's residents totaled 26,913 yuan, up 5.1 percent year-on-year. The per capita disposable income of urban and rural residents amounted to 32,750 yuan and 16,765 yuan, respectively, year-on-year increases of 4.5 percent and 6.3 percent.
