As the approach of smart manufacturing (SM) develops even further, many car manufacturers and car spare part providers based in the zone have transformed their human-labor-driven shops into “smart” ones, featuring the use of automated operation machinery run by MES or ERP management systems.
The shops of Hongbang Die Casting (Nantong) Co Ltd have been equipped with automated operation machinery, and Hongbang is investing more in this field for highly automated and digitalized production. That explains the remarkable success it has made in both domestic and overseas auto markets in recent years and the wide popularity it has enjoyed among many leading auto manufactures, such as BMW, Benz and Tesla. “Since the introduction of intelligentized processes, we have enhanced efficiency in production by 80 percent and shortened the product development cycle by 30 percent,” said Qiu Shengnan, director of Hongbang's smart shops.
This SM trend means not only the liberation of simple human labor, but more importantly increased efficiency and more sustainable ways to drive both the local and national economies.
R&D of smart products benefit enterprises
The zone keeps pooling technological talent through its various major industrial projects, highlighting the R&D of smart products.
Some leading technology companies have developed drones that act as both a patroller and monitor to keep everything in the whole production process in order.
