Two enterprises in Tongzhou district, Nantong in Jiangsu province, were approved as "innovative bases for postdoctoral workstations in Jiangsu province" in November 2019.

In 2019, the district rolled out a series of policies and regulations, offering extra subsidies to enterprises that attract postdoctoral researchers. In addition, enterprises will be rewarded with an allowance of 50,000 yuan ($7,277) for each postdoctoral researcher they recruit.

Zhang Jianbing, director of the human resources and social security bureau in Tongzhou district, said that to increase the policy support for enterprise to establish postdoctoral workstations, these policies and regulations will also give full play to the role of the workstations, actively promote exchanges and cooperation between universities, research institutes and enterprise postdoctoral workstations, and attract more talents to join enterprises in Nantong.

In 2019, the district undertook seven scientific research projects, applied for nine patents, published three academic papers in core journals at home and abroad, and invested nearly six million yuan in project research. Most of the research achievements had been industrialized by enterprises, generating direct economic benefits of nearly 25 million yuan.

Relying on the innovative bases of postdoctoral research, the innovative development model that drives the successful transformation and upgrading of enterprises was being constantly copied by other enterprises.

By setting up postdoctoral research workstations and innovation practice bases, enterprises in Tongzhou district have realized the docking of science and technology with the economy, the docking of innovation achievements with industry, and the docking of innovation projects with real productivity, thus promoting the "deep integration" of enterprises, universities and research institutes, Zhang added.
